John Wynne is one of the finest flute players of his time. From Roscommon town, John was naturally drawn to playing in the celebrated North Connaught flute style. After initial tuition from Paddy Ryan, John was helped in starting the flute by the great Patsy Hanley. His playing was strongly influenced by players from the region, such as Matt Molloy, Seamus Tansey and Peter Horan.

John has won All-Ireland titles at various grades on flute and whistle. He plays and teaches regularly at workshops and festivals in Ireland and abroad.

From June 1998 until October 2001 he was a full time member of the band Providence. He recorded two albums with them, "Providence", and "A fig for a kiss" in early 2001.

John Released his solo debut album entitled "With every Breath" in Late 2000. The album was launched in style to a great crowd in the Temple Hotel on the 12th of November 2000 as part of the Ennis trad festival. The album has since won critical acclaim, well known musical writer and critic Eule Hatchner placed "with every breath" in his top 20 albums for the year 2001.

John is now in a full time job, having previously given a few years to full time music. He continues to be in great demand as a performer and teacher in his spare time. "With every breath" has become a very popular seller in the folk/trad music market nationwide.
